What is it?
U of T is a powerful engine of research and innovation, investing in a robust research ecosystem that creates new knowledge and jobs that benefit people in Toronto, across Canada and around the world. The postdoctoral talent initiative will provide new and current postdocs with more potential funding opportunities to help support their research.
Research Excellence Postdoctoral Fellows Program (REPFP)
We are creating new opportunities for early career researchers to succeed by backing their own independent research programs. This new program will fund 100 new two-year postdoctoral fellowship appointments over five years.
Postdoctoral Competitive Research Awards (PCRA)
The new Postdoctoral Competitive Research Awards give current and new postdoctoral fellows the autonomy to pursue an ambitious research program, while benefiting from close collaboration with leading faculty. Current and new postdocs can apply for awards of $10K or $30K to develop independent research programs. More information on this exciting new award program will be available in early 2026.
Provost’s Postdoctoral Fellowship Program
An expanded Provost’s Postdoctoral Fellowship Program empowers Black and Indigenous postdoctoral researchers to grow their scholarly profiles, undertake academic work at the University of Toronto, and strengthen the research environment at the University with diverse perspectives.
Who is eligible?
There are opportunities available for new and current postdoctoral fellows. The Research Excellence Postdoctoral Fellows Program (REPFP) focuses on new scholars, while the Competitive Research Awards and Provost’s Postdoctoral Fellowship Program are open to both new and current postdocs.
